There’s more to change than technology! Success has long been equated with change, and change is now frequently driven by technology, yet many organisations still report returns on investment of less than 1% from information technology. How do you achieve value for money from your investments in change and technology? This is the universal challenge faced by organisations today, with more and more emphasis on demonstrating sustainable return on investment from change and technology. As a manager, you need to harness the full power of systems, aligned to business objectives, whilst capitalising on the value of your greatest asset – the workforce. sigma offers you a proven structured and practical approach, known as Benefit Realisation Management (BRM). Benefits of the sigma Benefit Realisation Management (BRM) approach: BRM can be applied at any level of the organisation and at any stage. Our approach can be applied to developing the vision and corporate objectives of the organisation, down to individual project objectives. Ideally applied at the outset, it can be introduced at any stage and still add value by validating or refocussing on objectives and benefits. BRM can be introduced alongside existing project and programme management methodologies (such as Prince 2 and MSP), integrating the benefit realisation approach into existing phases and activities BRM fosters widespread understanding and commitment to organisational, programme and project objectives amongst stakeholder groups BRM enables you to prioritise investment into areas that will deliver the greatest benefits BRM helps you identify the 'right' technology and business change needed to deliver benefits BRM activities actively engage stakeholders and establish ownership of benefit delivery BRM maintains the focus on benefits through all project phases and beyond to support decision making, prevent scope creep, and achieve delivery of expected benefits BRM provides an effective means of communication and reporting at both the 'big picture' level for senior management, and at the detailed level for the programme and project delivery teams. sigma’s process, which has six phases, is applied through a series of stakeholder engagements, which may include workshops, focus groups and one-to-one interviews, and can be tailored to meet your specific requirements. The approach fully supports OGC’s requirements, outlined in Managing Successful Programmes (MSP), and as reviewed through the Gateway Process.
