25 September, 2009, London, UK…….. The Best Practice User Group’s (BPUG’s) annual conference focuses on the importance people play in managing successful projects. The conference takes place on 11 & 12th November 2009 at the Mercure Holland House Hotel, Bristol.
Professor Rodney Turner, Lille School of Management, is the event’s keynote speaker. He said: “Project Management makes a significant contribution to the global economy, so developing relevant competence at all levels - individual, team, organization, and society is key for better performance. We’ll be looking at ways to make sure everyone in the organisation, from senior management to project co-ordinators, can become and remain engaged on projects to ensure successful delivery.”
David Hinde, Orgtopia, will show how the PRINCE2® Project Board concept is an excellent way to engage senior stakeholders. He will look at the theory and show how it works in practise using a series of case study examples from his recent work with the BBC, Eli Lilly and UK local government.
Fred Murray-Webster, Lucidus Consulting, will explain his nine-point approach to Project Conflict Management/Resolution, ensuring all parties use their energy to work together, towards a mutual benefit.
Melanie Franklin, CEO, Maven Training, will demystify the interpersonal skills required to deliver projects and programmes and Alan Ferguson, AFA, will lead an interactive workshop on Practices for Delivering Change.
Other topics covered during the event will include: What is Best Practice; Portfolio Management, Gateway Reviews and Maturity Assessments, Risk Attitudes and Conflict Resolution. Delegates will have ample opportunities to network during breaks and over dinner, to ask questions of experts during a panel question and answer session and to attend BPUG’s AGM.
Registration for members is now open via the Members Area of this site. Non-Members who would like to join the conference can book online and will receive a year's free membership to the Best Practice User Group with their delegate place. The price for non-members is £250 + VAT.
